Lavandería.
A laundry room in a large apartment building complex. Neighbors who meet, whether they want to or not. A laundry room as a focal point, conversation and therapy room. Where washed-out dreams from everywhere tumble around. Where everyone and no one gets a voice for a moment. A room where community is carefully created and paths crossed. A laundry room. Or maybe an entire society? In Lavandería we get to meet Dalila, the area's heart and brain, the mischievous Luz Fuego del Sol, the depressed Aurora, The obsessive-compulsive Feodor, the stock market shark who can not wash and young people who dream of love. Do they have anything in common?
With the laundry room's collective room as a starting point, we are thrown into a centrifuge of worlds that collide. What happens when we are forced to socialize in a common place, a place we have not chosen but are dependent on? What happens when different dreams and experiences are put into life's big dryers and beams?
With its rich language, humor and accuracy, Nachla Libre, script and direction, creates a scenic, multi-layered work that, by focusing on a microcosm, manages to capture an entire world. Lavandería has been selected for Unga Klara's mentor project, where directors are given space to develop their artistic process together with Unga Klara's two artistic leaders Gustav Deinoff and Farnaz Arbabi. In 2020, the artist and poet Nachla Libre began her mentoring project under the direction of which ended with public presentations the 11-13 of June 2021 at Unga Klara.
